Annual survey results recognize physicians as leaders in their fields based on nominations by colleagues
SEATTLE—July 20, 2010—Calypso Medical Technologies, Inc., a developer of real-time localization technology used for the precise tracking of tumor targets, today announced that Kenneth Russell, M.D., Medical Director for the Company, was awarded recognition in Seattle Magazine’s annual Top Doctors survey. The July 2010 issue of Seattle Magazine recognized 381 physicians from over 10,000 nominations received.
The survey is designed to allow physicians to nominate their colleagues for outstanding performance. Among the questions included, physicians are asked to recommend healthcare providers whose care they would seek for themselves and for their loved ones. Physicians are assigned a unique ID code to ensure each physician votes only once.
"Calypso Medical is honored to have an outstanding and respected physician such as Dr. Russell serve as our medical director,” said Lisa Levine, Ph.D., Senior Director of Clinical Affairs for Calypso Medical. “We rely on Dr. Russell’s expertise in the field of radiation oncology to help guide many of the clinically-based decisions facing us every week. His vast clinical knowledge and the respect he has among his peers is clearly evident and has been invaluable to the Company.”
Dr. Russell specializes in the treatment of prostate, bladder and testicular cancers as well as hematologic malignancies, including lymphomas. He serves as Professor, Vice Chairman, and Clinical Service Chief of the department of radiation oncology at the University of Washington and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Dr. Russell received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed residency and fellowship training at Stanford University.
